I started school in the St. Louis Public School District. I attended K-2nd grades at Sherman Public Schools in the Tower Grove District. After moving to Southeast Missouri, I attended grades 3rd-12th at Woodland High School outside of Marble Hill, MO. After graduating from HS in 1988, I attended Southeast Missouri State University and graduated in May of 1993.
I have a BS in Exceptional Childhood Education grades K-3 with extra certification in Learning Disabilities and Intellectual Disabilites.
I have attended many professional development opportunities to expand my knowledge and skills in the teaching of children with Autism and Sensory Integration problems.
I started in this District in Aug. of 1999 as an Early Childhood Assistant with Mrs. Joy Lawrence. In Aug. 2006 I moved to the Kindergarten side to be a Special Services assistant with Ms. Regina Gunthrie. In Aug. 2009 I became the Kindergarten Special Services Teacher, which I now continue to teach. I teach children with many special needs such as Autism and Intellectual Disabilities.
I completed my Student Teaching assignments in the Nell Holcomb and Jackson R-2 School Districts. After graduating I worked as an assistant in a Behavior Disorder classroom in the Cape Girardeau School District. I accepted a position shortly there after of Homebound Instructor in the Meadow Heights School District in Bollinger County. After the student moved, I substitute taught for the Woodland, Advance, Bell City and Bloomfield School Districts. I also worked for Specialty Products and Services as an In-home care giver to Special Needs adults.
I got married in Feb. of 1998 and moved to Bloomfield, MO from Cape Girardeau. My husband, Harvey, is a Stylist at Klassic Cuts here in Sikeston. I have three girls; Anna, Viola and Erin. My oldest lives in Cape Girardeau. The middle child attends Sikeston High School. My youngest attends Bloomfield Middle School. We have one dog, Hub, who is Pit Bull/Boxer mixed and almost 10 cats/kittens. Many of these are barn cats who are wild. My daughters have them all named, but I could not remember them all, much less spell some of the names. We live on a farm outside of Aquilla, MO.
When I am not teaching I like to garden and read. I enjoy hanging out with my girls and doing family activities. I attend church and enjoy church activities that are family oriented.
