I started school in the St. Louis Public School District. I attended K-2nd grades at Sherman Public Schools in the Tower Grove District. After moving to Southeast Missouri, I attended grades 3rd-12th at Woodland High School outside of Marble Hill, MO. After graduating from HS in 1988, I attended Southeast Missouri State University and graduated in May of 1993.
I have a BS in Exceptional Childhood Education grades K-3 with extra certification in Learning Disabilities and Intellectual Disabilites.
I have attended many professional development opportunities to expand my knowledge and skills in the teaching of children with Autism and Sensory Integration problems.
I started in this District in Aug. of 1999 as an Early Childhood Assistant with Mrs. Joy Lawrence. In Aug. 2006 I moved to the Kindergarten side to be a Special Services assistant with Ms. Regina Gunthrie. In Aug. 2009 I became the Kindergarten Special Services Teacher, which I now continue to teach. I teach children with many special needs such as Autism and Intellectual Disabilities.
I completed my Student Teaching assignments in the Nell Holcomb and Jackson R-2 School Districts. After graduating I worked as an assistant in a Behavior Disorder classroom in the Cape Girardeau School District. I accepted a position shortly there after of Homebound Instructor in the Meadow Heights School District in Bollinger County. After the student moved, I substitute taught for the Woodland, Advance, Bell City and Bloomfield School Districts. I also worked for Specialty Products and Services as an In-home care giver to Special Needs adults.
I got married in Feb. of 1998 and moved to Bloomfield, MO from Cape Girardeau. My husband, Harvey, is a Stylist at Klassic Cuts here in Sikeston. I have three girls; Anna, Viola and Erin. My oldest child lives in Bloomfield, MO.. My middle child lives in Advance, MO. My youngest attends Bloomfield High School. We have almost 8 cats/kittens. Many of these are barn cats who are wild. My daughters have them all named, but I could not remember them all, much less spell some of the names. We also have a Texas Healer puppy named Jelly. We live on a farm outside of Aquilla, MO.
When I am not teaching I like to garden and read. I enjoy hanging out with my girls and doing family activities. I attend church and enjoy church activities that are family oriented.
